Our Newest Acquisition!

PBS’s “The Great American Read was a 2018 series that explored and celebrated the power of reading, determining America’s best loved novels through an extensive nationwide poll.
Through the generosity of the Edgar B.Hollis Testamentary Trust, missing selections were acquired and every winner from 1 to 100 can now be found on the honor book shelves of the Carnegie Library. 

Edgar B. Hollis

A Newnan native, Edgar Baldwin Hollis attended Newnan High School and as a graduate of Emory University  received a Bachelor’s Degree in History, a Master of Humanities and was a member of the PHI BETA KAPPA Society. Mr. Hollis’s professional career was in Washington, D.C. where he worked for 33 years as a Librarian for the National Security Agency of the U.S. Government. The Edgar B. Hollis Testamentary Trust was founded to fufill his final wishes to provide cultural enrichment opportunities to all citizens of his beloved hometown.
