The City hopes to see an updated traffic study soon. GRIC has not provided a timeline on resubmittal of the traffic study, design plans, or a construction start date at this time. It is the normal process for a traffic engineer to conduct a thorough traffic study. This study is sealed by a registered professional engineer. The City does its own review and provides comments/questions on the study to understand the traffic impacts of the proposed development and is currently working through that process now. Due to the unique nature of this project, part of this specific study includes traffic counts for other casinos already in operation. This information will better help the City understand the likely traffic impacts that can be seen from the new casino development. Has the city discussed with GRIC why they would build the casino so close to Chandler residential areas instead of a mile or more South to provide more of a buffer? Much of the land on the Gila River Indian Community is individually owned by tribal members, similar to private property. The Casino Owners Expansion Team owns the development rights to the land where they are building the casino. They do not necessarily own development rights elsewhere on Gilbert Road.
